Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have left the United States for a fresh start in England. The couple recently moved to the picturesque Cotswolds, a serene region in southwestern England, known for its scenic villages and countryside charm. Their decision to relocate came soon after Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election.

Ellen and Portia had been outspoken supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris during her campaign. Ellen not only endorsed Harris on social media but also contributed to her campaign. Disheartened by Trump’s win, the couple decided it was time for a change and made the move across the Atlantic.
They are already settling into their new surroundings. The pair was recently spotted at The Farmer’s Dog, a cozy pub in Burford, enjoying a live performance by The Corrs and spending time with singer Natalie Imbruglia. The Cotswolds, often favored by celebrities for its tranquility, seems to be a perfect fit for their new lifestyle.
This relocation marks a significant shift for Ellen and Portia. After ending her iconic talk show in 2022, Ellen stepped away from the spotlight following a 19-season run. The show’s conclusion came after allegations of a toxic work environment, which Ellen addressed publicly, making efforts to implement changes.
Earlier this year, Ellen released what she called her final Netflix comedy special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval. During the special, she reflected on her career with humor and honesty, expressing her gratitude for the support she received and her desire to leave a positive legacy.
Now focusing on a quieter life, the couple is preparing to sell their Montecito estate in California, fully committing to their new home in the U.K. While many celebrities have considered leaving the U.S. during political unrest, Ellen and Portia are among the few who followed through.
