Explaining the recent interview, current WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes opened up about Roman Reigns’ return at SummerSlam 2024. This was the first time that Reigns and Rhodes were in one ring since WrestleMania 40. Cody Rhodes won at WrestleMania 40 defeating Roman Reigns and a champion is decided by pinning the competitor.
At SummerSlam, Roman Reigns returned on TV for the first time after the loss of the championship. Post event Cody explained Reigns’ return. He said, “I don’t want to say many good things about Roman Reigns but, things would have been different if he wasn’t there, I might not be the champion today, he and I have not really spoken since WM, but I owe him a lot.”
Cody Rhodes also added that the fans were looking forward to seeing Roman Reigns again. As usual the event was well coordinated and all the attendees of the event left the event with contentment.
Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa had put up a very entertaining bout for the WWE Undisputed Championship bout. Similar to their WrestleMania 40 bout, WWE was perfect in presenting this one. Towards the very end, The Tonga brothers interfered with the match and distracted Cody Rhodes to allow Solo Sikoa to score the win. But Cody was ready. It then continued to scramble when Randy Orton and Kevin Owens appeared, to fight the Tonga brothers for a back drop, thus leaving Solo and Cody to fight alone.
Then, Jacob Fatu assaulted Cody Rhodes almost ensuring a victory for Solo. Yet, Roman Reigns’ music hit, and he entered the ring and performed a spear on Solo Sikoa.
Reports say WWE has big plans for a Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa rivalry. This story will have reunions, betrayals, and big matches, possibly lasting until WrestleMania 41. The Rock might even get involved, leading to a match between Roman Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania 41.
At the same time Cody Rhodes can retain his championship belt and leave with starting a new feud. This could be WWE begins a storyline between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.
