Shakira is back, and she’s making history. The global icon has officially kicked off her much-anticipated Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, marking her first worldwide trek in seven years. Fans have been eagerly awaiting her return to the stage, and she did not disappoint. The tour’s grand opening at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on February 11 was nothing short of spectacular, setting the tone for what promises to be one of the biggest tours of the year.

With overwhelming demand, Shakira upgraded her tour from arenas to stadiums, a move that speaks volumes about her global appeal. The sold-out crowd of 46,000 erupted as she emerged in a stunning Versace ensemble, launching into the high-energy track “La Fuerte,” produced by Bizarrap. Throughout the night, she delivered a dynamic setlist, featuring hits from her latest Grammy-winning album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry), including fan-favorites like “TQG,” “Monotonía,” and “Te Felicito.” She also performed Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53, a song that has captivated audiences with its raw emotion and subtle references to her widely publicized split from former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.

Beyond the music, Shakira’s performance carried a message of strength and self-love. Addressing the audience, she shared a heartfelt sentiment: “Music heals. Loving somebody else is a very good thing, but it’s better to love oneself.” This powerful statement resonated deeply with fans, many of whom see her as a symbol of resilience and reinvention. One devoted fan, Juliana Modenesi, who traveled over 600 kilometers to attend the show, said, “She has been through a very difficult time in her personal life. She has reinvented herself, and today, she is stronger than ever.”

Shakira’s ability to connect with her audience through both music and personal growth is unmatched. Her concert was a masterclass in versatility, blending pop, reggaeton, salsa, and Dominican bachata into an electrifying two-and-a-half-hour spectacle. Classic hits like “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Chantaje,” and “Waka Waka,” the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, had the crowd dancing non-stop. This historic tour debut followed her powerful performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where she took the stage for the first time in 18 years, delivering unforgettable renditions of “Ojos Así” and “Sessions.” That night, she also took home the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, solidifying her status as a global music powerhouse.

The tour is only getting started. After her Rio de Janeiro launch, Shakira is set to conquer South America, with stops in São Paulo, Lima, and sold-out performances in Chile, Argentina, and Colombia. Fans in Barranquilla, her hometown, are especially excited, as this marks her first performance there in 19 years. The excitement continues in Mexico, where she has already made history as the first artist to book seven consecutive nights at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City.

By May, Shakira will take her tour to North America, kicking off in Charlotte, North Carolina, before heading to major venues such as MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Fenway Park in Boston, and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Nearly 50 dates have been confirmed, with even more expected to be announced.

With over 90 million records sold worldwide, four Grammy Awards, and an undeniable influence on Latin music and pop culture, Shakira’s legacy continues to shine. Her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is more than just a series of concerts—it’s a celebration of resilience, empowerment, and the enduring power of music.
