Will Smith has once again set the internet on fire—but this time, it’s not for a blockbuster movie or chart-topping hit. Instead, the buzz is all about his electrifying performance with Spanish singer India Martínez at the 37th Premio Lo Nuestro Awards in Miami. The chemistry between the two during their performance of First Love had fans questioning whether their onstage moment was scripted or something more. And, of course, many wondered: What does Jada Pinkett Smith think about it?

During the February 20 performance, Martínez leaned in as if to kiss Will, only to pull away at the last second, teasing the audience. Moments later, she returned and appeared to actually plant a kiss on him. While PEOPLE confirmed that no real kiss occurred and the moment was just part of the choreography, fans weren’t convinced.

Social media erupted with reactions, with one user quipping, “I was waiting for Jada to come out from left stage and smack the s— outta her for kissing her man.” Others referenced Jada’s infamous “entanglement” comment from her Red Table Talk episode in 2020, playfully suggesting, “Just say it was an entanglement.”
However, some fans dismissed the speculation, pointing out that it was just a stage act. “You can tell the attempt was a joke. They never actually kissed. The second attempt when she came back still no kiss—he leaned his forehead down as to get their lips further apart and backed away,” one commenter explained.
Neither Will nor India has addressed the online frenzy directly, though both shared clips of the performance on their Instagram pages. India later posted behind-the-scenes snapshots, including a photo of her hugging Will with her legs wrapped around him. In another post, she wrote in Spanish, “Another perspective, same passion,” possibly downplaying the drama. Will, on the other hand, kept it simple, captioning his post, “First time performing First Love con @india_martinez_oficial y @marcin.music!! Fantástico.”
This viral moment comes at a time when Will and Jada’s relationship remains under public scrutiny. In October 2023, Jada revealed that she and Will had been separated since 2016, yet they never pursued a legal divorce. “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce, we will work through whatever. I just haven’t been able to break that promise,” she told NBC News.

Despite living separately, the couple has maintained a public bond. They continue to make appearances together, including the red carpet premiere of Bad Boys: Ride or Die in May 2024. Sources suggest they are “living their own lives” but haven’t “completely severed ties.”
While the internet continues to speculate, it seems that Will and India’s steamy onstage exchange was nothing more than theatrical flair. With both artists focused on their music careers, the drama will likely fade—at least until the next viral moment.
